About the opportunity
The General Manager of Network Operations South is a pivotal role at Australia Post, leading a 10,000 plus workforce across VIC, SA, WA and TAS.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Network Operations, this role is responsible for leading the continued transformation of the processing and delivery operations across the Southern region. This includes ensuring safety, service, performance and compliance standards are a priority, whilst actively driving change to manage costs and network/operational innovation and improvements. Australia post continues to invest in new technology, facilities and innovation and this role will be at the forefront of implementing that change and planning for the next phase.
What you’ll deliver with us
This is a senior change role to help Australia Post deliver our long-term, ‘Post 26’ strategy. Central to the success of the role will be the ability to build constructive internal and external relationships, to deeply understand the organisational priorities and the ability to plan and execute large scale changes across the Southern region – in partnership with all key stakeholders. As part of the Network Operations Leadership team, you’ll join a passionate team of customer centred Operations Leaders working hard to design and deliver the transformation and continued commercial growth of Australia Post while serving our communities across the country.

- Lead operational change within a consultative framework that constructively engages staff and their representative associations
- Implement and embed Lean management and continuous improvement as integral to the ’way we work’ to deliver for our customers
- Deliver operational compliance in transport industry regulations, legislation, policy and reporting obligations for national road and air transportation
- Have Accountability for P&L and financial performance to grow profitable revenue and adhere to financial controls
About you
We are looking for a highly experienced Executive with demonstrated leadership experience within large operational environments, a background in leading large diverse teams and motivating and empowering people to perform. Experience leading multi-site operational teams in the Transport, Logistics, Delivery, Airline, Rail, Ports or aligned industries will be relevant to this role.
You’ll also need
- Experience in identifying opportunity for change, and prioritising and implementing transformational change initiatives
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex industrial relations matters
- Track record of planning and delivering significant operational change programs
