Your contribution: As the General Manager, you will be a strategic leader, driving innovation and efficiency in waste management operations. Fostering a culture of safety and excellence, engaging with council customers, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction, your leadership will significantly enhance operational performance, sustainability, and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
● Contribute to strategic planning, IP management, and evaluation of emerging technologies
● Oversee budget development and tight control over operational costs
● Lead in attracting, recruiting, and retaining employees
● Analyse collection routes to optimise efficiency
● Ensure maintenance of waste collection vehicles and equipment to prevent service interruptions
● Engage with council customers to implement improvements based on feedback
● Identify and act on opportunities to increase revenue and reduce operating costs
● Effectively manage procurement processes
Qualifications and Experience:
● Hold a Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or similar, or willingness to obtain on successful appointment of position
● Demonstrated experience in effectively managing procurement processes for physical assets and materials, ensuring optimal utilisation and value for money
● Experience in recruitment, termination, and management of staff
● Strong ability to implement operational changes to improve performance, staff well-being, and service quality, backed by past successes in driving positive outcomes
● Experience in contributing to strategic planning and evaluation of emerging technologies, with a clear understanding of intellectual property management and corporate reputation
● Sound financial acumen, including budget planning and management, cost control measures, and financial analysis to enhance profitability and sustainability
● Demonstrated commitment to Occupational Health & Safety practices and regulations, with experience in creating and maintaining a safe workplace culture
