If you’re ready to grow with a growing company, come and see if our people, are your people.
About the opportunity
With our continued success in the resources, renewable energy, and government sectors, our Perth Ecology Team is recruiting for a Graduate Ecologist to join our talented team.
This role will primarily involve providing ecological and environmental support and services to the Perth office with tasks including field work, contributing towards report writing, proposal preparation and other general activities as directed. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, which deliver innovative environmental and ecological solutions for our clients. We encourage employees to rethink traditional methods of project and technical delivery to develop these solutions.
Our client’s projects are located across Western Australia. You will gain on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced and respected environmental professionals; contribute to projects in the fields of ecological assessment, environmental impact assessment, vegetation management, environmental monitoring, planning and conservation assessment; learn from the best in multidisciplinary project management and delivery; work with other scientists across the company and with current and prospective clients, government and regulatory authorities. You will learn new skills and play your own unique part in helping us fulfill our company’s vision of:
“Leading with science, to inform critical environmental decisions, and deliver positive solutions”.
About you:
We know you are looking for a company where you can grow your passion for ecology, follow your purpose, and provide environmental solutions that make a difference. If you also love to laugh hard and work hard within a team of highly motivated and talented people, you’ll fit right in.
To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • A passion for the environment (provide a 300 word summary on why you are passionate about the environment and leading with science)
  • A degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
  • A passion for ecology and any experience you may already have in flora and fauna surveys
  • Sound communication and scientific writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • A can-do attitude and self-starter initiative with good time management skills
  • An awareness of relevant Western Australian and Commonwealth legislation
  • A baseline level of physical fitness and agility that will enable your participation in field work in a variety of climates and terrains
  • Current manual driver’s licence and demonstrated safe driving record
  • A sound working knowledge and practical experience using MS Office products
  • Australian residency or citizenship.
If you wish to work for ELA but feel you may not meet all the criteria for this position, we encourage you to still get in touch. You may be a perfect fit for another ecology role in our Perth team.
We will offer you:
We are Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) compliant, reviewing equality of pay across each role in our company. We have a friendly and inclusive team, who enjoy socialising and sharing stories from fieldtrips. We promote flexible and hybrid working options for all positions, including full-time positions (38-hour week), part-time positions (pick a number), and choice of working location(s).
You can view our extensive company benefits on our careers page www.ecoaus.com.au/careers, and be encouraged to know that we have a progressive, non-gendered, 12 weeks paid parental leave policy. Let’s not forget the birthday leave benefit (that’s right, you get an extra day off on your birthday!). nrmjobs.com.au/job/20020472
