The Role:
The Navantia Australia and UTS Joint Institute focuses on Digital Technologies for the Naval Industry, supporting the development of sovereign Research and Development technology while working as a hub to build relationships between Defence, Navantia Australia and the University of Technology Sydney.
The collaborative R&D activities are focused on delivering advanced technologies that are beneficial to the Royal Australian Navy and the wider industry. Navantia Australia’s investment commitment is being allocated towards several areas of collaborative research and Development and Innovation focusing on advanced software engineering, UX digital expertise, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence.
We are looking for bright and creative graduates who would like to be part of this exciting opportunity. Ideally, you will have an interest in areas of Artificial Intelligence, Maths, Physics, and/or Robotics and are passionate about the Defence industry. As the successful candidate, you may have the opportunity to complete a PhD within Navantia Australia. To be considered for a PhD, you will need a recognised master's by research or bachelor honours degree with first class or second class / division 1 honours, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or evidence of general and professional qualifications that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate research studies.
As the ideal candidate, you will have:
- A Bachelor Honours Degree with first class honours in any of the following disciplines; Maths, Physics, Robotics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline
- Good knowledge of software development tools and programming languages
- Excellent communication and data presentation skills
- Ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the business and with all stakeholders
- Strong time management skills and ability to deliver results in a high pressure environment
- Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance
