Through our Changemakers Program, campaigns, youth-led events, and annual Changemakers camp, Sonder Youth provides young people with the tools, knowledge, experience and confidence to be agents of positive change. We provide a holistic mental health support model, focusing on prevention, by supporting young people to develop their resilience and sense of self-efficacy in the face of increasingly present global challenges.
Sonder Youth Ltd. currently operates in the Kiama and Shoalhaven regions, with plans to expand its programs to the Wollongong, Southern Highlands and Batemans Bay areas in the next 12 months.

Position Purpose
The purpose of the Grants and Sustainability Officer is to support the sustainable expansion of Sonder Youth Programs and impact. You will be our go-to for all things budgeting, reporting and finances. In this role, you will not only support the ongoing work of Sonder Youth Ltd. but you will be integral to the growth of our programs into new regions.
This role will include researching and writing grant applications, overseeing Sonder Youth Ltd. financial processes, reporting on all elements of funding deeds and contracts, liaising with existing stakeholders to develop and maintain positive partnerships, and endeavour to form new partnerships.
In this diverse role you will work alongside the Managing Director, Programs Coordinator and Marketing and Communications lead to complete tasks collaboratively.
Essential Qualities

• Eligible to immediately work in Australia without sponsorship
• Relevant experience in business management, accounting, finance, fundraising, or related field
• Current Working With Childrens Check for paid work
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence; or ability to arrange transport to various locations across the Shoalhaven/Illawarra at ad-hoc times and dates
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and proven ability to confidently interact with stakeholders
• Excellent level of skill and experience in managing budgets, writing grants/project proposals, meeting reporting requirements, using Xero accounting software and/or working in a non-for-profit
• Strong ability to work autonomously within a fast paced environment
• Ability to prioritise and balance multiple activities simultaneously with a view to meeting strategic deadlines

Desirable Qualities

• Demonstrated sound level of computer skills (or ability to quickly learn) particularly in Notion, Slack, Google suite and the Microsoft Office suite of programs (specifically Word, Excel & Outlook)
• Experience using Xero accounting software
• Experience managing company finances including managing payroll and invoicing
• Experience working in a not for profit
• Experience completing acquittal processes

Key Responsibilities

• Rapidly develop (i.e., within one month of undertaking the role) learn, and understand Sonder Youth Ltd.’s core functions, purpose and mission
• Research and prepare applications for grants opportunities suitable for Sonder Youth Ltd. in a regular and time effective manner
• Prepare all documentation associated with grants applications and acquittals
• Manage and oversee the appropriate completion of all elements of grant funding deeds
• Provide monthly reports to the Program Coordinator and Sonder Youth Ltd. Board of Directors on the progress of existing and new grant projects
• Maintain documentation of Sonder Youth Ltd.’s work and programs to provide to funding parties as needed
• Manage partnerships with key funding stakeholders
• Develop relationships with a range of potential funding bodies
• Use Xero accounting software to generate reports, track grant budgets, reconcile transactions etc.
• Manage company spending within a grant budget, including payroll, invoicing, etc. Interpreting awards/agreements and contracts in relation to the payroll function
• Coordinate employee Superannuation & Salary Sacrificing requirements and/or arrangements
• Perform a variety of accounts payable and receivable tasks, including vendor management and reconciliation of bank and other accounts
