About the teamThe Grants Division (Brisbane and regional offices) administers funding for legal services in line with federal and state government funding priorities. The Division processes more than 44,000 new legal aid applications each year and manages ongoing files to finalisation.
Legal Aid Queensland utilises a purchaser-provider model to deliver high-quality legal services across Queensland. Approximately 80% of those legal services, costing about $80M per year, are provided by private legal practitioners.
The Grants Manager is a busy and rewarding role in our state-wide Grants Division which administers funding for legal services in line with federal and state government funding priorities.
In your role you will oversee activities which include assessment of applications, payments and revenue management, compliance, training, audit and business improvement.
What you will do
* Supervise and support the performance, wellbeing and culture of decentralised teams of grants officers.
* Analyse data and reports and interrogate our systems to deliver services with a state-wide focus.
* Identify and develop solutions to issues through the operationalisation of improvement strategies
* Manage the most complex and sensitive clients and matters in line with delegations
* Engage with legal practitioners and clients about grants matters.
* Investigate, resolve and prepare draft responses to complaints
About you
* You have experience managing decentralised teams including operational and hr activities
* You have proven experience contributing to business improvement and change management processes
* Knowledge of legal practices, procedures and terminology and ability to apply this to Grants decisions
* You have experience providing administrative and client services in a high volume, complex and sensitive application assessment and processing environment.
* You respond flexibly, contribute innovative ideas, and can manage change.
