The Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Safety & Wellbeing and managing a team of eight, this position, at it's core, is a people leader role supporting and encouraging the national team to implement best practice and focus on continuous improvement. The Safety and Wellbeing group form a critical component of the Safety group in delivering the organisation's safety & wellbeing strategy to ensure all legislative and operational health, Safety and Wellbeing requirements are met. Responsibilities include;
- Lead behavioural Safety and cultural transformation to deliver improved performance
- Provision of expert advice, guidance and support to the business to meet business objectives
- Manage Safety and Wellbeing issues
- Implement management systems, policies and guidelines
- Meet legislative and regulatory requirements
- Evaluate incidents and undertake investigations to establish root causes
- Work with Managers and Supervisors to formulate control measures and prevent recurrence
- Facilitate workplace program training
- Compile and report on Safety and Wellbeing data across the organisation
- Maintain and build effective internal and external relationships with stakeholders

Your Background
Whilst a background in the not-for-profit, community or aged care sectors would be advantageous, it is not essential! If these sectors are where you see yourself long term, then this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. The essential experience we are seeking is prior people management experience. In addition we are seeking;
- Extensive experience building productive relationships to advance Safety and Wellbeing strategies
- Excellent communication to build stakeholder engagement
- Proven ability to plan and execute safety & wellbeing projects
- Prior experience identifying and creating safety policy and procedures
- Understanding of legislative requirements across Australia
- Critical thinking capability
- Willingness to align with organisational values
- Ability to travel interstate as needed
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related
- Fire Safety training and Training/Assessing qualifications would be highly regarded
