What’s Involved
As a Grower specializing in Phalaenopsis, you will play a pivotal role in the management of all activities related to the cultivation and care of Phalaenopsis plants. Working under the guidance of the Production Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and high-quality performance of various tasks, contributing to the overall success of our cultivation operations. The salary is $73,150 plus Superannuation.
Duties performed will include:
Knowledge of the Phalaenopsis life cycle, the different stages of growth, and the environmental factors that affect growth, such as temperature, light, humidity, and fertilizer.
- Ability to identify common pests and diseases affecting Phalaenopsis and implement appropriate control measures
- Familiarity with greenhouse environmental control systems and equipment. This includes experience with watering, fertilizing, pest and disease control, and transplanting.
- Understanding of potting media requirements for Phalaenopsis and skill in preparing and mixing potting media.
- Ability to grade Phalaenopsis plants according to quality and size standards.
- Basic knowledge of plant physiology, this includes understanding how plants grow and respond to different environmental conditions.
About You:
- Business Experience and Qualifications Preferred
- Strong background in horticulture or a related field.
- Proficiency in irrigation system management.
- Expertise in crop management practices.
- Effective communication skills.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Practical experience in Phalaenopsis cultivation is highly desirable.
