The Technical AssistantHazardous Materials is responsible for:
- Day-to-day administrative functioning of the Hazardous Materials Team
- Provide high level customer service to internal and external customers relating to the inspection, status and
- Education and training of staff and members of the public (if required and when appropriate) in relation to the management of asbestos containing material
- Coordination of Council’s effluent removal service, including invoicing and contract management
In addition, the position will assist the Program Leader of Hazardous Materials with project management of hazardous material removal works, training programs, the development and implementation of long-term strategies, and programs for the management of Hazardous Materials. The position will also be involved in the development of potential commercial activities related to the management and removal / management of Hazardous Materials, and liaison with appropriate agencies to coordinate council’s response to illegally dumped material throughout the LGA.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of/experience in reading relevant legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining quality administrative systems and processes.
- Sound computer skills in a range of computer applications including: Word, Excel, Internet and Electronic File Management Systems.
- Understanding and experience in Document Control and Records Management.
- Sound written and oral communication skills, with a strong client focus and demonstrated high level communication and experience in negotiation.
- Must be able to organise and plan workflows and achieve deadlines without supervision.
- Knowledge of and commitment to work health and safety requirements and principles of equal employment opportunities.
Remuneration: base salary commencing at $80,136 gross per annum
+ adverse working conditions of $1,000 gross per annum
+ 11.5% superannuation
+ performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary
+ annual award increase
