The Hardware Société is a cafe born in the laneways of Melbourne 14 years ago, with a mission to redefine breakfast and brunch. We are a Melbourne brunch institution, now open in Paris & Barcelona. Renowned for our exquisite culinary creations and lively atmosphere, we are a beloved destination for locals and visitors. We are searching for a talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team.

Our menu is inspired by French and Spanish fare, it is fun and indulgent, and never just eggs on toast!!

We don't work nights, and you'll be out the door before 4 every day.

With a menu that changes constantly and daily specials on the weekend, we are a dynamic business that is looking for staff that are the right fit.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations at The Hardware Société. The ideal candidate will have a passion for French & Spanish cuisine, a proven track record of success in busy kitchen environments, and the ability to lead a team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences. This role requires creativity, leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards that define our brand.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, across multiple locations.
  • Develop and execute innovative and seasonal menus that showcase French & Spanish cuisine. Including weekly specials.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff at both Melbourne locations to ensure consistency and excellence in food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain inventory levels and oversee purchasing of ingredients to ensure freshness and quality across all sites.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Collaborate with management to optimize kitchen efficiency and profitability across all locations. 
  • Stay current with industry trends and implement best practices to enhance the guest experience at each location.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef in a busy kitchen environment, preferably within a Breakfast setting.
  • Strong culinary skills and a deep understanding of French cuisine and techniques.
  • Ability to create and execute innovative menus that appeal to a diverse cus
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred.
