A bit about the role

This role leads the Ageing and Sector Support Unit to deliver strategic programs and initiatives that strengthen Council and community as age-friendly environments and provides effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enhance positive outcomes for Casey’s evolving community.

The successful applicant will continue to foster an innovative culture, working closely with staff, community organisations and partners to deliver equitable access to quality services, information, and support networks for older individuals and those with disabilities, promoting active and fulfilling living in Casey.

What you’ll deliver

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of the Ageing and Sector Support Unit to deliver on Council’s Living & Ageing Well Plan and ensure that it is meeting the Casey community and Council needs in a sustainable way.
  • Provide leadership and ongoing development to the Unit to thrive during change with a service improvement mindset and focus on service efficiencies that maximise community benefit.
  • Foster a culture that drives development and implementation of ‘best practice’ policies, strategies, service standards and programs to ensure the community’s ongoing access to contemporary service provision.
  • Actively seek and strengthen partnerships with external stakeholders, including the State and federal Governments, to facilitate market strengthening of aged and disability services.
  • Ensure that Casey’s diverse community’s needs are reflected in the Council Plan, and other related strategies and action plans, with specific strategies that respond to current and emerging diversity, inclusion and social justice issues as they arise.

What you’ll bring

  • A relevant degree or diploma in Allied Health, Social Sciences, or substantial leadership experience in a relevant field.
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated success leading teams to successfully implement alternative service models that focus on improving community outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage strategic partnerships with key stakeholders on a range of policy, program and community issues to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Established leader with demonstrated experience and robust understanding of local government. Understanding of the broader aged care, health and disability systems and Sectors preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Commonwealth and State Government policy, frameworks, funding agreements and service standards as they pertain to aged and disability sectors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the economic, political, and social issues relating to the Local Government environment.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
