The Position
Reporting to the Head of Medicine of Australia & New Zealand, an exciting opportunity has arisen to come and join our high performing medical team!
Your role as the Head of Clinical Development & Operations (CD&O), Australia and New Zealand, will be to lead the local CD&O team which is part of the Regional Operating Unit (ROPU) ASKAN. The Head of CD&O is responsible for the execution and delivery of the clinical trials allocated to the country that meet pipeline commitments, specific scientific medical, regulatory, and commercial needs.
An important part of this role is you will also be tasked to identify opportunities that create competitive advantage and drives Clinical Development excellence and will be responsible for the performance in the respective country.
Tasks & Responsibilities

• Actively interact with our customers to capture and bring local strategic insights into Boehringer Ingelheim to support our Clinical Development.
• Ensure the CD&O execution excellence strategy, focusing on delivery of pipeline commitments, effective leadership, and best practice while leveraging data & technology and customer engagement approaches to deliver on competitive timelines and to maximize value for patients.
• Increase the awareness of Boehringer Ingelheim's Clinical Development program by building up and maintain networks with the internal and external stakeholders, including clinical experts and patient organizations.
• Ensure implementation of standards, processes, and performance in the responsible country to improve overall clinical program delivery according to plan in terms of efficiency, timelines and quality while containing costs.
• Ensure adherence to national and international regulatory and legal rules, scientific medical and ethical standards, and data integrity of Clinical trial conduct, and compliance with Boehringer Ingelheim internal SOPs and guidelines.
• Responsible for talent identification, development, and retention for the team, in alignment with local HR and Head CD&O region, while maintaining a highly skilled CD&O team workforce of energized employees through hiring and retaining talents.
• Oversee the responsible country activities to ensure commitments are met, feasibility oversight, trial, and the country performance is aligned with best practice implementation, and the regional CD&O strategy.
• In alignment with the Local Heads CD&O countries in region - build, facilitate, and use innovative technologies that support Boehringer Ingelheim's Clinical Development on a Region level.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or MD and/or PHD and/or Masters Medicine and/or Pharmacology and/or Biology
• Proven experience with pharmaceutical industry or CRO with proven record of successful team leadership and management.
• Solid Medical/Scientific understanding, including general understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, rules, and regulations.
• Able to lead functional teams with good managerial skills (ability to influence without authority)
• Ability to actively engage with customers, building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
• Ability to effectively build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
