About Us:
Capella is a beautiful rural town located on the Gregory Highway approximately 950 km north-west of Brisbane via Rockhampton and Emerald. With sightly fewer than 1000 residents, Capella benefits from all the characteristics found in small rural communities. The school educates approximately 150 students. Industry within the locality includes a mixture of coal mining and agriculture. The agricultural activity includes the growing of a variety of grains (predominantly sorghum and wheat), sunflowers and beef cattle and there are nine Bowen Basin coal mines operating within an hour's drive of Capella.
About the Role:
The role of Head of Department (Ready for the Future) focuses on the senior phase of learning. In this role, you will work alongside the Head of Department (On Track for Success) to develop, implement and monitor a number of key policies and procedures in the school including:
* P-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework
* Collegial Engagement Framework
* Pedagogical Framework
* Data Plan
In addition to these accountabilities, a vital component to the role will be supporting students in the Ready for the Future phase of learning. In particular, your role will include alignment and implementation of the senior syllabus, upskilling of staff on relevant seniors syllabus subject areas, conducting Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan meetings, monitoring student progress towards attaining the Queensland Certificate of Education and case managing students as required, developing partnerships with vocational and tertiary providers and local industry and line management of select teachers and Youth Support Coordinator.
