About Mango Hill State Secondary College
We are one of Queensland's newest secondary schools, having opened our gates in January 2020 with cohorts in Years 7 and 8. Since that time, our college has grown by 1 year level each year, with opportunities for enrolment in Years 7-11 in 2023.
Along with our new building programs, we are building a committed, professional and dynamic teaching staff that will challenge and engage our young people, to allow them to explore the world around them in a safe and supportive learning environment. Our teaching and learning programs will integrate new technologies into classrooms every day, to promote inquiry and build critical and creative thinking capacity.
About the Role
Established in 2020, Mango Hill State Secondary College serves students from Years 7-12. Our College is driven by a vision to cultivate a community of Respectful, Engaged, Aspiring Learners, preparing them the world of tomorrow.
Applicants will have demonstrated experience in leading curriculum and teaching and learning in the English & Languages curriculum. As an instructional leader, the Head of Department - English & Languages will play a key role in the development, implementation, and quality assurance of the Australian Curriculum and QCAA Senior Curriculum whilst embedding the College's pedagogical framework and practices. They will work with the Leadership Team to lead a culture of continuous improvement in a collaborative and collegial learning community. This opportunity requires the successful candidate to have strong flexibility, as well as collaborative, leadership, change management and communication skills. A drive to establish and maintain strong relationships within and beyond the College community is essential.
As the Head of Department - English & Languages you will have responsibility for the following:
- Lead the College department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
- Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
