About Middlemount Community School
Middlemount Community School is a state school that provides a quality education from Prep to Year 12. Our school, with an enrolment of approximately 300 students, serves the local mining community of Middlemount and the surrounding rural properties. In Prep to year 6, we develop strong foundations through the Australian Curriculum and our literacy and numeracy programs. Our Junior Secondary department builds on these foundations, with a strong focus on wellbeing and engagement. In the senior phase, students are prepared for further education and training or pathways into employment and industry through a successful program of school based apprenticeships and traineeships.
About the Role
We are seeking an innovative and energetic educator to develop our Technology capability to ensure our students are ready for the workplace of the future. The role would be working on the Technology curriculum areas across our p-12 school, primarily in the secondary school. The successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of ITD/Technologies curriculum, and experience in VET and a current TAE will be highly regarded.
We have existing partnerships with business and universities, including a high proportion of our senior students holding school based apprenticeships in the mining and related industries. To build on this further we require the input of a creative and innovative thinker to take our students' success to the next level.
As a member of the school leadership team in a prep to year 12 school, the Head of Department (Secondary) will also take on other strategic and operational roles as agreed upon, including student management.Middlemount qualifies as a remote location and all the benefits that go along with that - however we are only 2.5 hours from the coast. Subsidised accommodation is available - including housing for couples and families, if required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
Set high standards for student and staff performance.
Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
