About the role

The Head of Marketing – Core at Accolade Wines will lead the Core Marketing team to achieve profitable sales growth through innovative, insight-driven activity across multiple channels. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this role will be responsible for developing and executing long-term marketing strategies and annual brand plans, enhancing brand identity, managing budgets, and leading multi-channel campaigns. Relationships are key to building buy in through strategic communication with internal and external stakeholders, fostering relationships with marketing agencies, and driving brand innovation. Additionally, you will lead and mentor a team of skilled marketing individuals, ensuring high performance and clear strategic direction.

This is full time, permanent position based in Sydney with our hybrid working model allowing you to work in the office and remotely. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and refine brand identity, positioning, and architecture for existing and new master brands
  • Create long-term brand strategies aligned with regional targets and short-term portfolio goals
  • Lead the annual brand planning cycle, delivering activity plans that meet brand objectives, consumer needs, and customer business plans
  • Manage annual A&P budgets, ensuring efficiency and monthly reconciliation
  • Oversee the development, production, and evaluation of multi-channel marketing activities, ensuring alignment with consumer insights and obtaining necessary approvals
  • Lead the new product development process from insight to post-launch review, coordinating cross-functional teams and communicating with Commercial teams and retailers
  • Serve as the portfolio marketing lead for demand planning, allocations, SKU rationalisation, and product exits
  • Foster a high-performance culture by coaching team members to monitor and adjust brand performance based on P&L metrics
  • Develop and coach brand marketing talent, ensuring team capability and personal development
  • Build effective relationships within Accolade, with key customers, and with external suppliers

What you'll bring

The ideal candidate possesses strong strategic, commercial, and creative thinking, demonstrating robust leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, capable of building sustainable business relationships. You will have outstanding communication, business acumen, and project management abilities, aligned with a proactive and results-driven approach will see you successful in this role. On a leadership level, your focus will also be shared in coaching and growing talent, embodying Accolade's behaviours, and working autonomously while fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration. Including: 

  •  Relevant tertiary qualification in business, marketing or related discipline    
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in FMCG (wine/liquor preference), with at least 8 of these years in Marketing/Brand 
  • Proven ability to develop and lead insight led marketing initiatives that drive competitive advantage demonstrating an understanding of what motivates consumers  
  • Experience in planning, building and monitoring annual business plans  
  • Demonstrated reputation for customer engagement with ability to drive mutual business results  
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the impact of customer spend on channel profitability with thorough ROI process understanding
  • Experience in managing budgets and tracking spend effectiveness 
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve targets and meet challenging deadlines  
  • Experience in leading a diverse team and developing marketing capabilities 
  • Knowledge of basic sales management concepts (e.g., sell-in process, trade promotion and pricing, category management, feature/benefit selling, distribution/channels)
