We have an exciting opportunityfor a Head of Marketing and Brand to join the Office of General Manager within Georges River Council. This role plays a pivotal role in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to promote Council services, programs and events in Georges River, as well as building Georges River external reputation.
What We Offer
- Permanent, Fulltime – 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $111,220.76 - $128,863.29 per annum plus 11% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

About The Role
The position is responsible for leading a team to increase awareness and enhance the council’s brand reputation through various marketing channels and campaigns. This includes, but not limited to:
Strategy and Policy
- Develop, implement and evaluate Council’s City Marketing Strategy
- Oversee, implement and evaluate Council’s Social Media Policy and Strategy
Campaign Planning and Delivery
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic and innovative marketing campaigns to local residents to raise awareness of Council services, programs and events
- Monitor and analyse the performance of Marketing campaigns, utilising data and insights, to optimise strategies and maximise the return on investment for Council
City Marketing
- Develop, manage and implement Georges River Council’s external brand
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic city marketing campaigns
Corporate Brand and Creative Services
- Oversee the consistent application of Council’s branding, reputation and style guidelines across the organisation
- Oversee the management of Council's creative services who designs concept for major projects, events, physical signage, internal templates and all bespoke requests across the organisation
Social Media
- Oversee the management of Council’s social media channels to ensure the delivery of timely, engaging and informative content that is consistent with Council’s Policy and Strategy
- Escalate any critical or urgent issues to the relevant subject-matter expert
People Management
- Coordinate team projects by facilitating a City Marketing business plan and individual work plans for all team members
- Support the delivery of the Performance Excellence Program, facilitate professional development opportunities for staff and oversee all administrative requirements of people management
Partnerships
- Work in partnership with the Executive Manager City Futures to provide timely advice for the organisation
- Build positive relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Build positive relationships with strategic partners to promote Georges River to external audiences
Corporate Citizen
- Develop and manage the City Marketing budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and corporate reporting is completed on time and to a high standard.
- Be an active contributor to the broad portfolio of work delivered by the City Futures team.
- Be an active contributor to Georges River Council corporate projects including the piloting of new initiatives and engagement activities being undertaken by other teams / directorate.
The successful candidate will have
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, public policy, public relations and / or equivalent demonstrated capability in marketing
- Leadership. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams to deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- Project/Campaign Management. High level understanding and demonstrated ability to a take a campaign / project through an entire lifecycle from conceptualisation to evaluation. Demonstrated skills in delivering projects on time, within budget and achieving high quality outcomes
- Stakeholder Management. Demonstrated ability to build strong, credible and authentic relationships that deliver public value
- Communication Skills. Highly developed oral and written communication skills to prepare advice, reports and correspondence to meet audience needs. Demonstrated capability to prepare and deliver high-quality public presentations on behalf of the organisation. Ability to transform complex concepts into easy-to-understand language that is accessible for all stakeholders
- Teamwork. Demonstrated ability to work in a united, collaborative environment whilst consistently displaying integrity, accountability, respect and honesty
- Problem Solving. Demonstrated problem solving, lateral and creative thinking skills
- Organisation Skills. Demonstrated ability to set work priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to anticipate workflow and employ innovative responses to high workloads and complex issues
- Inclusivity. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity of thought and enabling equity in the workplace
Desirable
- Knowledge of the social, political and legal framework within which local government operates and current developments, challenges and opportunities for the sector
- Design thinking and workshop facilitation skills
