The Head of Program & Project Delivery within our Project Management Office (PMO) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the successful execution of strategic and cross-functional projects at The Lottery Corporation. The Head of Program & Project Delivery will lead a team of project managers and collaborate closely with the Head of Governance and Portfolio and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with the expected quality.

What you’ll do

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex and large-scale projects that support the organisation's strategic objectives. Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and schedules, considering dependencies, risks, and resource constraints. Oversee project execution to ensure adherence to finances, timelines, budgets, quality standards and to ensure delivery of tangible benefits to the organisation.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues proactively. Develop risk management strategies and contingency plans to minimise project disruptions and ensure successful Project Delivery.
  • Lead matrix teams comprised of cross-functional members from various departments and disciplines to deliver project outcomes. Foster collaboration, communication, and alignment among team members to ensure project success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, department heads, project sponsors, and external partners. Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements, expectations, and priorities, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track project performance and progress. Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and stakeholders on project status, milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Drive organisational change by facilitating stakeholder engagement, communication, and buy-in throughout the project lifecycle. Manage resistance to change and ensure smooth transitions during project implementation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO to enhance Project Delivery processes, methodologies, and tools. Identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency gains and implement best practices to drive project success.
  • Mentor and develop project management talent within the organisation. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to project managers and PMO staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.
     

What you’ll bring

This position demands a seasoned professional with a strong business acumen, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to navigate complex and large-scale projects. Key requirements include: 

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to drive projects to successful completion.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to navigate ambiguity and resolve complex issues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
