About the role
This role delivers high level professional clinical mental health services as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to optimise care to children and adults aged 12 to 25 years who have or are at risk of severe and complex mental health problems and disorders. The Senior Mental Health Clinician will deliver high level clinical services in accordance with relevant Model of Service, professional code of ethics and National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce.
The purpose of the role is to provide a dedicated position which will support the headspace Consultation Liaison initiative to create a seamless consumer experience, decrease transitional service gaps and enhance system capacity and build essential relationships and work collaboratively with headspace, child and youth mental health services and adult mental health services to support a seamless service experience for adolescents and young people (12-25 years) with MHAOD needs.

About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
- Provide consultation-liaison and clinical in-reach service as a member of a multidisciplinary team which supports the capacity of staff in a headspace service by providing assessment and recommendations for young people and adults with more complex MHAOD presentations.
- Actively support the seamless and streamlined transition of young people and adults requiring a 'step up' or 'step down' in care between headspace and state funded MHAOD services.
- Develop effective professional relationships within an interagency partnership model and support these to enhance respective clinical service delivery
- Contribute to staff development through clinical practice supervision, professional development activities, performance appraisal, and competency training to ensure professional clinical standards are met.
- Lead the discipline's contribution, within the service unit, to develop, implement and evaluate clinical activities to continually improve the care of young people and adults at risk with severe and complex mental health problems.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association within Australia. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
