Who are we?

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.

We are focused on acute care, immunisation, chronic disease management, women's health, men's health, child and maternal health, sexual health, and social emotional wellbeing.

We also provide a range of community programs in areas including health promotion, mental health/social and emotional wellbeing, and alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. 

About the role

The Healing and Recovery Service is a proactive Aftercare service that is designed and delivered to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.  The Healing and Recovery Service provides a safe environment, culturally-appropriate care co-ordination, support and linkages with different aspects of treatment or response.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general Administration Support, e.g., filing, photocopying, scanning, maintenance of records, secretariat duties inclusive of minute taking, data entry, etc.
  • Provide receptionist services, manage generic email inbox, telephone, taking messages, deliveries, mail as required.
  • Assist Healing and Recovery staff with client booking, confirming, cancelling, rescheduling as required.
  • Assisting with reporting requirements with data input as advised
  • Assisting with release of information processes with DDHS
  • Support Healing and Recovery Staff with external provider and stakeholder communications
  • Act as the liaison person on client's behalf and organise transport in accordance with eligibility.
  • Monitor waiting lists and outstanding referrals and report anomalies.

To be successful you will need:

Essential

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a similar role that illustrates your abilities in maintaining effective administration systems.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with aboriginal people from diverse backgrounds as well as people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating specialist services and liaison with service providers.
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history; and an understanding of social, health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team, with an ability to plan, manage and prioritise tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations.
  • Ability to acquire appropriate family and social information to assist with organising appointments and clinics, and an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated written skills in the preparation of reports, general correspondence, and documentations, as well as demonstrated computer skills.

Desirable

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Experience working in aboriginal community-controlled sector.
  • Cert III or IV Business Administration

What we offer:

  • 6 weeks annual leave per annum.
  • 5 days paid leave during our end of year shut down period (in addition to annual leave).
  • Salary packaging of up to $15,990 per annum.
