Salary Package: $75,000 – $85,000 per annum pro rata, + superannuation + salary sacrifice + BENEFITS!
Benefits:
• Flights: $1,683.00 (gross) per annum, or payable completion.
• Salary Packaging Benefits: Up to a grossed-up value of $30,000 per annum.
• Accommodation Allowance: The successful candidate will receive a $7800 accommodation allowance towards rent expenses. This is not a relocation bonus and does not imply accommodation provided by DAHS.

Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) offering holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing in Derby and neighboring communities. DAHS provides a diverse array of public health programs in addition to direct, comprehensive primary health care and social and emotional wellbeing services.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and driven Health Promotion Officer to spearhead our efforts in raising awareness and prevention of Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) and Acute Rheumatic Fever (ARF). In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing community awareness campaigns, delivering health education, and fostering prevention messages. Collaboration with community groups, primary health care staff, and stakeholders will be key in promoting culturally safe pathways to healthcare and developing local strategies to combat ARF and RHD.
Responsibilities include:
• Provide culturally safe Health Promotion, literacy, and training on RHD and ARF, including prevention strategies.
• Establish and maintain stakeholder networks to support program goals.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance integration across the health sector.
• Support adherence to secondary prophylaxis injections among diagnosed individuals.
• Increase prevention activities through a co-design approach in high-need areas.
• Represent DAHS at various platforms and events.
• Ensure uptake and revision of RHD protocols and Health Promotion priorities.
• Conduct evaluations and maintain accurate data collection.
• Develop culturally relevant Health Promotion materials and communications.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating community-based Health Promotion programs.
• Strong community engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Integrity in maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively in remote settings.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Current Working with Children Clearance
• Qualifications or relevant experience in health-related fields, project management, or community development.
• Current C class WA driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently.
• Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience in using electronic patient information systems and databases within the primary health care setting e.g., MMEx.
• Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organization.
• A local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, with established connections to the region.
