What will your typical day look like?


Reporting to the Head of HSE Operations, you will be responsible for driving the proactive implementation and continual improvement of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture, strategy, plan, and performance across a region.

Striving to advance TGE's business strategy through enabling a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus and operational excellence the role is responsible for providing practical HSE advice and support to our people and delivering initiatives that continually improve our HSE culture and performance in line with our 'Genuine Care Culture' strategic priority.

What you'll do:

  • Engage in the HSE cultural change program, including provision of support and initiatives to line management to achieve the goal of a genuine care workplace.
  • Develop and review Site HSE Plans, in partnership with key business stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the TGE HSE Plan and assist the business in achieving all objectives and targets.
  • Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs that enhance the understanding and effectiveness of the HSEQ Management System, risk management, safety leadership, hazard reduction, TRAC and HSE continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular site HSE inspections with business stakeholders to drive improvements on site conditions.
  • Provide HSE and risk management advice to business leaders particularly in relation to complex operational matters that require input from a HSE subject matter expert.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of emergency preparedness and business continuity activities, including training and emergency response exercises.

What you'll bring:

At TGE, we have high standards in delivering an excellent service, we are safety obsessed for our people and our customers. This dynamic role requires an energetic, innovative and experienced HSE professional with experience in transport and logistics safety.

  • Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and / or other relevant discipline / Tertiary HSE qualifications (highly desirable)
  • Travel between sites Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.
  • 4-6 years practical experience in a HSE role with a focus on transport and logistics (preferable).
  • Detailed knowledge of HSE legislation, industry standards and management system standards (ISO 45001/45003 & ISO14001).
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in the interpretation and analysis of HSE legislation and audit criteria.
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
