Location Profile
Parkville College is a multi-campus school that delivers education at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, as well as Secure Care Units and the O-Street Flexible Learning Campus. Parkville College is a registered specialist school that delivers high quality educational programs to meet the needs of young people aged 10-21 years in custody with the Department of Justice and Community Safety and secure services with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. 

Parkville College delivers education to some of Victoria's most vulnerable, yet inspiring young people, who are filled with enormous potential. The Parkville College education model follows a culturally responsive pedagogy that supports the development and growth of all students, incorporates strong local partnerships to deliver a flexible range of educational options including the Victorian Curriculum (Foundation-10), Senior Secondary Certificates (VCE, VM and VPC) and vocational studies. 

Selection Criteria
KSC 1 Demonstrated experience in interpreting and analysing data to inform and provide authoritative advice to a leadership team

KSC 2 Ability to deliver professional learning on the use of tools that report on staff health, Safety and Wellbeing, and promotion of these tools

KSC 3 Demonstrated experience in providing expertise and leadership in policy development and implementation that guides the work of others, including school staff.

KSC 4 Ability to apply sound theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to support the development of staff health, Safety and Wellbeing standards relating to the school operation

KSC 5 Provide an example from your professional experience that demonstrates your understanding and implementation of Cultural Safety in working with Indigenous and culturally or linguistically diverse staff.  

Role

This vacancy is located at our Parkville campus; however all Parkville College staff may be required to work across other campuses/sites within Parkville College.

Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions.  Range 4 is responsible for managing a range of functions under a wide range of conditions, subject to the size and complexity of school operations.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction minimal.  Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school.  Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.  Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employees position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Responsibilities
As a member of the leadership team the Coordinator will contribute to, develop and implement key policy initiatives in the school. Key Responsibilities of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Coordinator will include:

Conduct audits in Health, Safety and Wellbeing and work together with managers to fix the issue and monitor the status
Coordinate and maintain an audit and inspection program.
Support the review, maintenance and implementation of the College¿s OHS Risk Register
Support the review, maintenance and implementation of the College¿s OHS Calendar
Audit the College¿s use of safety systems and processes including EduSafe, IRIS and CISM to inform the College¿s safety controls
Assist with staff understanding of and professional learning in wellbeing, health and safety systems including EduSafe, IRIS and CISM Response (Critical Incident Stress Management - internal response program for Parkville College).
Coordinate and Manage eLearn Modules in EduPay for all staff.
Provide comprehensive reports regularly to management, and organize meetings with them upon request to discuss further
Monitor Hazard, Incident and Injury Management and early intervention and outcomes for staff
Implement appropriate safety management system or optimize it from findings on the ground
Support the College Campus HSRs and processes to ensure regular meetings with DFFH and DJCS
Support the College Central HSR processes including executive support of meetings; calendar invites, chairing and actions/minutes.
