Multigate Medical Products (MMP) is one of Australia and New Zealand's leading suppliers of procedure packs and medical consumables for the public and private hospital markets. We are a proud family-owned business founded in 1986 that has grown significantly from humble beginnings.
As a result of this continued growth, we are moving to a new state of the art and modern premises in Yennora in 2025. We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Health & Safety Officer/Lead, located in Villawood, Sydney.
The role is a member of the People & Culture team and reports directly to the Head of People & Culture who has a wealth of experience in all aspects of Health & Safety including on major hazard facilities. This is a key role in the championing of overall strategy/tactical and operational risk assessment and mitigation interventions, together with the management of workers compensation cases. You will also work closely with, and influence, the production and warehouse leaders with their Safety Leadership.
In conjunction with the planned move to new premises, MMP is also undertaking significant technology, process changes together with teamwork upskilling and so we seek a genuine and passionate influencer in this role.
About You
- Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation and its application
- Coach, mentor and influence the team towards high levels of safety with fit-for-purpose thinking and interventions
- Have substantial experience in a fast-paced environment that may have also gone through some form of significant transition – especially towards some form of automation/robotics environment
- Highly developed or developing influencing skills.
- Previous accountability for health and safety in a medium sized blue-collar environment especially in the field of manufacturing, warehousing, logistics and the like.
- Previous experience in moving from a manually driven process to a digitised, technological and data driven methodology would also be welcomed.
- An ability to assess risks and put forward compliance as well as value-based improvements and ideas .
- Maintain and improve/rationalise required reporting and information
- Act as a conduit and trusted adviser (based on quality and value of advice) with line managers and enjoy having ‘skin in the game’ with them on all safety results.
- Working collaboratively with those line managers in identifying and managing risks as well as creating and delivering training programs
- Whilst data driven information and results is a given, your focus and passion towards the behavioural aspects and impacts will be what truly differentiates you from others.
- Managing and administering the value and results of the OHS Committee.
- A relevant degree and/or specific qualifications at some level in OHS/WHS would be desirable
- Sound understanding of ISO45001 would also be desirable
