Health Safety (OHS) Officer

About the role:
We are searching for a passionate and proactive individual who aims to not only meet regulatory standards but also foster continuous improvement and innovation.
As the Health and Safety Officer. you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees. The role will see you being the champion for continuing to grow a safety-conscious culture and ensuring compliance with WHS regulations, which you will accomplish by implementing safety initiatives, providing training, and collaborating with stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participate in the identification and management of critical risks.
- Serve as the go-to person for all occupational health and safety matters acting as the OHS champion.
- Deliver training programs on OHS topics to employees, managers, and stakeholders, fostering awareness and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and investigations into incidents, accidents, or near misses. Provide recommendations for corrective and preventative measures based on findings.
- Support the development and implementation of occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and overseeing compliance with relevant regulations and codes of practice.
- Facilitate WHS audits.
- Ensure the ongoing implementation of robust reporting processes.
About you:
- Cert IV or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- ICAM Investigator certification or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in operational safety management within a manufacturing environment or similar industry.
- Experience in injury management, incident investigation, and WorkCover procedures.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining Health Safety Wellbeing Systems.
- Experience implementing safety initiatives and consulting with teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate critical risks, including physical and psychosocial hazards.
- Excellent oral, written and coaching skills.
