AKJ Services is a local Darwin civil construction company that have a wide range of civil projects and are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel fitter to join their team. We are seeking a candidate that has proven experience in the Civil industry with heavy plant road trains.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
You will be a trade qualified Heavy Diesel Fitter, with experience in civil, earthmoving and truck repairs and be familiar with electrical, hydraulic and welding repairs.
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for these opportunities you are required to have:
- Heavy Diesel Fitting or equivalent
- Prior experience working as a Heavey Diesel Fitter
- Demonstrated experience working in heavy earthmoving industry and or trucking, and ability to make mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and welding repairs are desirable but we are willing to train suitable applicants with a positive, optimistic attitude and a willingness to learn
- Air conditioning experience is desirable
- Clean meticulous workshop habits are essential
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team are essential
- HR driver’s licence preferable

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This role will be responsible for the effective, efficient maintenance and repair of our civil/construction machinery, trucks and site equipment in our workshop and at times at various sites across the N.T. which may include remote sites accessible by air travel only. In addition, this role will be expected to proactively uphold and comply with all Safety, Environmental Standards and HR guidelines.
- Maintain the mechanical reliability and operational safety of all equipment
- Complete maintenance and breakdown tasks;
- Draw on your expertise to advise on best practices and make technical recommendations;
- Ensure all installation, repairs and maintenance works are carried out safely;
- Comply with all company policies and procedures;
- Ensure you are always communicating clearly and effectively;
- Be willing to undertake further training and development as required;
- Possess a strong and uncompromising attitude towards safety; and
- Act respectfully to your team to maintain a harmonious workplace.
ABOUT YOU
- You must be currently living in Darwin and be able to attend an in person interview
- Valid Australian trade Certificate (essential)
- Post trade experience minimum 5 year.
- Experience working on a range of civil machinery - Hitachi, Komatsu, Izuzu, CAT, etc is preferable but any mechanical experience will be considered if coupled with the right attitude and a willingness to learn
- Current Australian driver's license.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test and pre-employment medical.
