Period of AppointmentAppointment to the role is on a fixed term flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months.
Duties- Enter specimen label information into Herbarium databases, interpreting and verifying data and current nomenclature.
- Prepare specimens for incorporating into the Herbarium collection.
- Provide regular and timely reports on the collection to the Head of Herbarium and the Registration Officer
- In collaboration with specialist Curators and the Registration Officer, contribute to the day-to-day care, maintenance and security of the collection and specialist facilities.
- Support and assist Herbarium projects and activities such as taxonomic research, collecting expeditions and public engagement programs.
- Experience of computer software relevant to a specimen-focused environment, especially as applied to biological data, would be considered advantageous, as is an interest in or experience of herbaria and botanical specimen handling.
- A current motor vehicle licence
