Australian Professional Skills Institute (APSI) is a privately-owned Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a CRICOS registered provider located in East Perth. Renowned for excellence in hospitality and commercial cookery training, APSI is one of the leading hospitality training institutions in Perth.

Position Description: 

APSI seeks an experienced Event Coordinator and Front of House Hospitality Trainer to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in training students on hospitality services and ordinating catering events. This position presents an exciting opportunity for experienced hospitality professionals to engage in mentoring and coaching the next generation of the hospitality workforce.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, prepare, and deliver training and assessments in RSA, Food Safety, Food and Beverage Services, Event Management, Bar Operations, cocktail making, and barista training to meet learning outcomes.
  2. Update teaching materials and assessments in accordance with APSI policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinate student work placements as per APSI policies, procedures, and training package assessment requirements.
  4. Participate in the validation and moderation of assessments and course materials on a prescribed basis.
  5. Engage in industry consultations pertinent to the units and qualifications with industry experts.
  6. Conduct assessments and provide constructive feedback to students according to APSI's assessment policy and procedure.
  7. Conduct professional development to ensure relevance in training current hospitality practices.
  8. Offer guidance and support to students, ensuring training outcomes are achieved and academic success is attained.
  9. Implement early intervention strategies and provide ongoing support to at-risk students in alignment with APSI policies and procedures.
  10. Coordinate and run hospitality events and functions in collaboration with the culinary arts department.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment 
  • Certificate IV in Hospitality and/or Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years' current work experience in the hospitality industry in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Training experience in Vocational Education and Training (VET) in a similar capacity.

  3. Proficient in planning, designing assessment tools, and delivering face-to-face training in a group setting.

  5. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems for course delivery enhancement.
  6. Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  7. Proficiency in conflict resolution, particularly in a multicultural student environment.
  8. Proactive in identifying student and business needs and proposing value-adding solutions.
  9. Excellent problem-solving abilities.
  10. Capacity to establish an employment network for APSI graduates within the industry.
