Carnival Australia is thrilled to announce a job opening for a HR Business Partner - Fleet within the P&O Cruises Australia brand! This newly established position will be located in our Sydney office in Chatswood, reporting to the Senior People Manager - Fleet on a 12 month max-term contract with a view to go perm. The role involves promoting ‘people and cultural excellence’ by collaborating with both ship and shore leadership, with a specific focus on partnering with the P&O Cruises Australia (POA) Guest Experience Hotel Operations and Maritime Operations teams. Your responsibilities will include supporting the human resource strategy, policies, and programs to enhance commercial success and development through shipboard HR teams and the seagoing population.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist the P&O Australia HR shipboard team by offering management advice and expertise to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of human resources for business success.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local and international stakeholders to achieve CAU and P&O Australia's objectives.
- Guide, support, and challenge business leaders to ensure the fulfilment of strategic priorities, while promoting a highly engaged and skilled workforce.
- Provide specific data and insights from P&O Australia shipboard operations to shape the P&O Australia strategy, people agenda, and shipboard organisational structure.
- Drive continuous improvement in crew welfare, training, and development across all areas.
- Ensure adherence to onboard HR policies, regulations, and maritime standards related to contracts, certification, and information.
- Collaborate with and coach People Managers to facilitate informed, people-focused decisions that drive workplace change and transitions.
- Maintain up-to-date HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with best HR practices.
- Lead and manage all ER investigations to ensure a positive and successful outcome for all.
- Foster an environment where the shipboard management team is motivated, well-informed, and proactive.

To be successful in the role, you will have demonstrated:
- 3 years of recent HR partnering experience in a matrixed commercial setting.
- Experience in cruise operations or shipboard knowledge is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of HR policies, interpreting procedures, and analysis.
- Expertise in identifying development needs, creating and facilitating Learning and Development packages and programs.
- Previous success in coaching teams and people managers.
- Proficient in cross-functional stakeholder management, collaborating, and influencing across different business areas.
- Strategic planner with an innovative, hands-on management style.
- Excellent time management and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Applicable tertiary qualifications in HR, related disciplines, or equivalent career experience.
- Possession of a valid passport, willingness to travel regularly, work outside regular hours, and be away from home on occasion.
