The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public
Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Business Partnering the HR Business Partner is responsible for the provision of high quality HR services and advice, which promotes consistency and best practice. Working across the NDIS Commission, the HR Business Partner will work as part as an agile team with a client focus.
The ability to engage with senior leaders, provide strategic advice and influence outcomes is core to the success of this role, as is the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues across the Commonwealth. Within the People Services function, the APS6 HR Business Partner is accountable under broad direction to perform complex HR work.
The HR Business Partner will:
- Ensure the NDIS Commission remains compliant with its legislative obligations;
- Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes;
- Exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures;
- Provide accurate, timely and plain English HR advice to contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and the development of policy;
- Effectively engage with stakeholders in relation to complex issues, anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations to achieve the section’s and
the NDIS Commission’s outcomes;
Our ideal candidate will have a strong track record in service delivery, program management, a demonstrated capacity to lead and manage teams and have demonstrated experience in a similar role. They will also have a positive and contemporary attitude to people with disability and the following capabilities:
- Knowledge of and the ability to apply the APS legislative framework, other relevant legislation and associated policies, guidelines and procedures relevant to recruitment, workforce planning, and capability development;
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability in resolving complex HR issues;
- Highly developed organisational skills including the ability to effectively manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines in high-pressure situations;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation skills including developing and maintaining productive working relationships with members of the team, employees and stakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to present information to a wide range of audiences;
