About Blackwater Mine: Situated 73 kilometres south-east of Emerald, Blackwater is the second-largest open-cut metallurgical coal mine in the Bowen Basin. This long-life operation began in 1967 and has grown to become one of the longest coal mines in the Southern Hemisphere, with a strike length of 80 kilometres. Blackwater extracts high quality metallurgical and thermal coal for the export market using truck and shovel, as well as loader and dragline. About the RoleWith our new acquisition of Blackwater Mine, we are seeking a skilled Health and Safety Manager who will be accountable for the delivery of Whitehaven Coal’s (WHC) Health and Safety (H&S) strategic focus areas. You will champion the implementation of initiatives to deliver improvements in performance at the operation.Reporting to the Site General Manager, you will ensure that processes are in place to maintain compliance with WHC standards, legislative and statutory requirements. Further to this, you will support the operating General Manager’s achieve improved H&S outcomes and maintain an effective emergency response.What You’ll DoContribute to the development of the WHC HSE business plan, deliver approved WHC H&S focus areas for the operations and champion the implementation of WHC H&S initiatives.Provides technical advice to the operations leadership team on strategic H&S issues that may impact the operation.Develop, implement, maintain and improve the operations Health and Safety Management System to ensure WHC HSE standards and legal requirements are met.Coach operational leaders to challenge perceptions and partner with them to facilitate a psychologically safe operational culture.Coaches and supports operational leaders in the utilisation of HSE Systems and processes.Identify opportunities and support operations to improve efficiency, and increase value through the use of data and risk analysis.Ensure H&S systems enable safe production.What You’ll BringBachelor of Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science (or equivalent) (desired)G2, G3, G7 (or equivalent) (desired)ICAM investigation trainingExtensive experience in an OH&S and/or environment role at senior or superintendent levelOH&S and/or environmental experience within the mining industryKnowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation and Statutory requirements in QldStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organisation.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement, and deliver results in a fast-paced environmentAbility to pass a QLD Coal Board Medical Why Whitehaven Coal?Full Relocation Packages FIFO Opportunities Competitive salary packages, with salary sacrificing options (local living & novated leases) Employee Referral Scheme - $4000 for Successful Referrals!
