Job Purpose:
This is a new management position that will be responsible for operational optimisation and creating a safety culture in their growing company. As the HSEQ Manager, you will oversee all aspects of health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ), and drive the implementation of strategies that align with their business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the HSEQ Department, guiding its growth and strategic direction.
- Provide guidance and support to operational management and staff on HSEQ-related matters.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety plans, policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements such as the Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting feedback, creativity, and learning across the organisation.
- Deliver engaging HSEQ presentations and campaigns to raise employee awareness and promote a safety-first mentality.
- Manage the organisation's legal and compliance registers, ensuring all documentation is up to date.
- Conduct and supervise routine HSEQ inspections and audits, identifying potential risks and recommending improvements.
- Assist in developing managerial skills necessary for effective risk management.
- Analyse HSEQ data to produce management-focused monthly reports highlighting key findings, trends, and potential hazards.
- Investigate HSEQ incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures to maintain a safe workplace.
- Evaluate suitable duties for injured workers and manage injury claims to facilitate prompt return-to-work processes.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including customer safety representatives and regulatory bodies, on HSEQ issues.
- Lead site observations and facilitate toolbox discussions to enhance safety awareness and practices.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in infrastructure or related industries, focusing on quality control, environmental protection, and health and safety.
- Tertiary qualifications in quality management, environmental management, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is advantageous.
- Previous experience with government, railroad, civil, and infrastructure projects, as well as maintenance work, preferred.
- Practical experience in managing driver behaviour and vehicle-related risks, including familiarity with Heavy Vehicle National Law and Chain of Responsibility.
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant WHS and HSEQ laws and regulations.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills, with a proven ability to inspire teams, drive change, and cultivate a robust safety culture within an organisation.
