The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Human Resources Adviser to join the McCullough Robertson Sydney HR team! 

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources - Sydney, this position is responsible for providing HR support, advice and solutions to partners and managers in the legal support and business services teams in Sydney as well as driving the Graduate and Clerk program as part of the national strategy.

Key responsibilities 

  • Coach people leaders on effective people leadership and management practices for the legal support and business support teams;
  • Manage general recruitment for the Sydney office for legal and non legal roles in consultation with the Human Resources Coordinator in Brisbane.
  • Lead, manage and deliver the Graduate and Clerk (early career) strategy, initiatives and programs in Sydney.  This includes:
    • Coordinating and executing the annual clerk and graduate recruitment process;
    • Attending university events such as panel sessions, meet the profession evenings and general networking events
    • Working closely with the Marketing team regarding marketing strategies and campaigns;  
    • Acting as a key contact for the graduates and clerks to assist with everyday enquiries
    • Providing HR operational support to the clerks and graduates through monitoring performance and feedback and managing rotations.
  • Provide general HR operational support and assistance to HR projects, as required from time to time, with the Head of HR Sydney and Chief People Officer. 

Experience

The successful candidate will have worked in a Human Resources Coordinator or Adviser role previously within a professional services or legal environment.  With HR qualifications or equivalent, the candidate will have ideally a minimum of three years experience and can demonstrate:

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills; 
  • Solid experience in the employee lifecycle and HR operations;
  • High level of time management and organisational skills to manage competing priorities;
  • Ability to interact with staff at all levels and prioritise workflow with a high attention to detail; 
  • High level of initiative and a proactive approach to the role; 
  • HR principals of confidentiality; and 
  • Ability to contribute constructively to Human Resources related projects.
