The role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HR Officer to join our team. The HR Officer will play a crucial role in supporting our HR functions, ensuring that our workforce is well-managed, motivated, and aligned with our company's strategic goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of HR tasks, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and training and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
- Facilitate new employee orientations and ensure a smooth onboarding process.
- Develop and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies and educational institutions.
Employee Relations:
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and issues.
- Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts and grievances in a fair and timely manner.
- Promote a positive workplace culture and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Compliance and Administration:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
- Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and coordinate training programs for employees.
- Support career development initiatives and succession planning.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
Performance Management:
- Support the performance appraisal process, including setting performance standards and providing feedback.
- Assist managers in addressing performance issues and developing improvement plans.
HR Projects and Initiatives:
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
- Support diversity and inclusion efforts within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar HR role.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
- Experience in the maritime or manufacturing industry is a plus.
