BPA Children’s Services (BPA) is a not-for-profit organisation that manages Kindergartens and Child Care centres in the Western suburbs of Melbourne.  We are one of the largest providers of Early Childhood education and care services in Victoria, delivering quality programs that meet the needs of each child and the wider community.  We are a group of committed educators who embed equity, access, cultural relevance and safety within our programs, because every child deserves to be set up for success in life.

Your New Job

We live and breathe early childhood. BPA has grown exponentially in the last few years and as a Human Resources Officer, you’ll support the Human Resources Manager and team to build our capabilities in people management. The role is required to work on site at our Deer Park Head Office, you’ll contribute to the day to day requirements and also have the opportunity to contribute to relevant actions and initiatives within our operational and strategic goals.  On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Provide depth of knowledge and support with compliance and legislative updates to policy, procedures and processes (including but not limited to) the Fair Work Act and NES.
  • Support the Human Resources department by contributing to the building of effective HR operations policies and processes to support the employment lifecycle aligned with organisational values and objectives.
  • Provide depth of knowledge and support with the application of Industrial instruments including Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, Modern Awards, including implementations, interpretations and accurate applications into contractual agreements and variations.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining a child safe culture and fulfilling the legal responsibility and duty of care to protect children, keep children safe and maintain their rights.
  • Collect and verify pre-employment screen documents such as Police Checks, WWCC, VIT Registration, VEVO checks, licences, qualifications and certificates.
  • Monitor training records to maintain currency.
  • Proficient level of experience supporting the Human Resources Manager with taking on tasks or projects that contribute to the strategic and operational plans, goals and initiatives.
  • Proficient experience with compliant end to end performance management, grievance or dispute processes with high accuracy to detail and confidentiality.
  • Provide experience and support to the Human Resources Manager with change management plans and implementations processes.
  • Contribute and participate in the People and Wellbeing Group through practical actions, initiatives and events that enhance a health and wellbeing focus across the organisation.
  • Support the Human Resources Manager with DEI and Staff learning and development initiatives.
  • Promote our unique EVP and enhance our employer brand.

What You’ll Bring

BPA is proud to have a diverse group of passionate and values-driven employees.  To be successful, you will be committed to quality and have:

  • Proficient experience and confidence working across the spectrum of generalist Human Resources.  You’ve experienced a wide range of different situations, and you’re able to work through opportunities with guidance.
  • Ideally, you’ll have experience with or exposure to the Early Childhood sector, or a similar operating environment such as education, disability services or aged care – but this is not a deal-breaker.
  • Sound industrial relations and employee relations experience and understanding of Australian employment legislation and legislative instruments.
  • Technical knowledge in the use of systems and data
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or related disciplines.
  • RTW Coordinator qualified ideal.
  • The right to work in Australia and complete a successful Police and WWC check.
