POSITION OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES
The Human Resources function supports Shine Bright EYM (Shine Bright) mission and strategic goals through the delivery of quality Human Resources and OH&S. Human Resources leads the development of people and organisational development strategies to achieve these aims.
The Human Resources Officer’s primary purpose is to provide high-quality, efficient administrative services and coordination of human resource and OH&S activities. The role also provides technical advice on employment matters to employees and Early Years Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Assist with the coordination of relief staff. In addition, the position may requires ‘on call’ relief co-ordination on Monday to Thursday 6:30pm – 8:00pm (currently twice a week). Sunday night ‘on call’ relief co-ordination may be required.
- Support and coordinate recruitment activities across the organisation.
- Provide recruitment support such as drafting job advertisements, shortlisting, coordinating interviews and employment reference checks.
- Facilitate staff and trainee inductions and onboarding to Shine Bright including the creation of HR files, transfer of file to locations of work and the updating of the Kindergarten Information System (KIMS).
- Support Human Resource administrative processes including employment contracts and variations, ensure accurate record keeping of staff hours of work and ad hoc documentation.
- Maintain and audit employee files and employment records; ensure good records management practice to meet compliance obligations.
- Coordinate the administration of OH&S matters such as WorkCover claims, playground audits, COVID Safety Plans, incident reports and other OH&S matters.
- Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function.
- Understudy the HR Coordinator.
- Provide technical and tailored information and advice on employment terms and conditions and payroll queries.
- Ensure the Kindergarten Information Management System (KIMS) has up to date staff and service information.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources. Alternatively working towards a tertiary qualification in Human resources or Business.
- Experience in Early Years Education such as Long Day Care and Kindergartens is advantageous but not essential.
- Significant Experience in delivering and maintaining effective HR administrative services and systems to meet organisational and compliance needs.
- An understanding of contemporary HR practice, particularly in recruitment and selection.
- An awareness of, and developed understanding, of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and related employment legislation and regulations; understanding of Victorian Occupational Health and Safety and Workers Compensation legislation.
- An understanding of the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement (VECTEA), Children Services Award (CSA) and Educational Services (Schools) General Services Award is preferred but not essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills that develop strong stakeholder relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and manage competing demands.
- Current Police Check & Employee Working with Children’s Check (WWCC).
- Valid driver’s licence.
