About the Project - Australia Assists is DFAT's flagship humanitarian technical assistance program. The managing contractor is responsible for deploying technical expertise to areas affected or prone to be affected by disasters, conflicts and humanitarian emergencies. The creation and maintenance of a humanitarian roster, alongside training and capacity strengthening of partner governments are key activities within the program.
About the Role - The Human Resources Manager plays a vital role in supporting the program by proactively translating program requirements into effective Human Resources and Talent Acquisition practices & strategies.
Location - This role is based in Brisbane, Australia.
Key Responsibilities
· Build strong partnerships with the program and provide counsel, advice and coaching support to managers and employees to enhance the performance and capability of the program and to address a range of workforce issues;
· Act as a change agent in managing organisational change as it relates to HR initiatives
· Utilise and analyse various sources of feedback (exit interviews, onboarding interviews, Touchpoint surveys etc) to shape and guide regional people strategy
· Ensure that the company is meeting its legal obligations by:
§ Reviewing, developing, and implementing contracts, policies, and procedures as required
§ Training employees on the application of new and existing systems, policies and procedures
§ Proactively supports the delivery of HR processes at the business side and continuously monitor and review HR transaction flows for process improvements;
§ Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives, encompassing effective culture and communication strategies, leadership, team development and workforce metrics
· Oversee all activities related to the employee lifecycle, from set up and on boarding of new hires through the induction process, employee relations, managing benefits programs, employment changes, international mobility, miscellaneous HR projects and research, and assisting with the exit procedures;
· Manage organisational change where this relates to HR &TA initiatives
· Help build capability across the program by driving talent acquisition efforts to identify, recruit, develop, integrate/on-board, and retain key talent;
· Contribute to health and wellbeing initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy working environment;
§ Manage the performance management process for employees, maintain data and produce status reports;
· Advise & consult with managers on performance improvement processes;
§ Lead the salary review and incentives process for the Region
§ Ensure that internal and external benefits programs are maintained and serving employee welfare needs;
§ Review and develop HR policies in line with business and legal requirements
§ Respond to queries from employees on HR policies, procedures, benefits related and operational
· Work in collaboration with teams and leaders and provide appropriate feedback as necessary;
§ Promote the use of HR systems policies and processes;
§ Manage and develop team members - set goals, provide feedback, coach, and counsel;
§ Perform other job related duties that may be assigned from time to time.
About You
· Relevant HR or business-related qualifications
· Strong skills and experience with employment law and benefits
· High-level skills in planning, organisation, multi-tasking and time management
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
· Strong experience and skills with MS Office software
· Strong written and spoken English language skills.
· Professional HR certification and affiliation with HR organisations preferred
