Technology and Digital Solutions Group (TDS) is made up of an Operations section, responsible for providing commodity ICT services, and three other branches: Digital Directions, Contract Solutions and TDS Administration. Operations comprises the Service Delivery Management, Technical Delivery Management, and Business Solution Services branches and the Program Management team. The ICT Technical Officer sits within the Platforms Section of Technical Delivery Management. The platforms team manages digital workspaces, Standard Operating environment and packaged applications for Windows platforms within TDS. Working in a team of ICT technical specialists, the ICT Technical Officer is responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting a large and complex environment. The ICT services within the department are hosted and deployed in predominately Microsoft Windows environments.
What you will be doing
• Manage the installation, maintenance and support of the DHLGPPW ICT environment and systems by applying high level knowledge and technical skills.
• Undertake a leading role in a responsive and effective problem resolution service that will minimise disruptions to and meet agreed performance targets for networked Information Systems and Associated Applications.
• Consult, negotiate, liaise and provide expert advice to staff at all levels regarding the operations of the Information Systems Infrastructure and facilities.
• Identify gaps and opportunities in the delivery of TSG services; coordinate identification and investigation of potential solutions on behalf of clients; work with TSG staff and management to develop solutions, and analyse, evaluate and propose new and/or additional services.
• Influence and encourage an environment and culture in which high quality customer service is delivered through fostering adherence to quality system processes, continually seeking improvement in the way in which work is undertaken.
• Contribute to the effective teamwork within the TDS group by developing an understanding of the roles and duties of other team members and working collaboratively to assist the team in delivering services.
• Investigate and identify analytical and problem-solving activities for the maintenance and support of a large and complex ICT environment utilising tools such as Azure Insights, PowerShell, MECM reporting.
• Manage and coordinate minor projects to implement and upgrade ICT infrastructure and systems.
• Configuration and management of IAAS server and virtual desktop infrastructure.
