Career Employment Group Inc has recently been awarded a 4 year Indigenous Skills and Employment Program, to deliver training and Employment solutions to Indigenous people across a large expanse of South Australia. This contract will require CEG to facilitate holistic training and Employment pathways to Indigenous people aged 16-24 years.
To ensure the success of this project we are seeking self-motivated, empathetic and inspiring individuals to fill the full time position of Support Officer. The core requirement of a Support Officer is to provide consistent support services to project participants.
This Support Officer position is available in Port Lincoln – the successful applicant will be required to support participants throughout Eyre Peninsula and Far West Coast
This role will require regular travel, necessitating overnight stays.
This Support Officer position is ideally suited to someone who is community minded, has the ability to communicate effectively with project participants, employers and community leaders, and someone who can engage and spark enthusiasm in individuals.
This role will involve:
- Provide integral support to participants and employers engaged in CEG’s project
- Effectively engage with participants aged 16-24 years
- Utilise your exceptional written and verbal communication Skills and maintain positive engagement of participants
- Foster relationships with employers and work with internal networks to identify employment opportunities for project participants
- Engage with local schools to identify project participants and create pathways for school students
- Engage in weekly consultation and support for each participant through one-on-one support and group workshops
- Be a conduit between participants, employers, community organisation, traditional owners and relevant support services to generate employment pathways and sustainable opportunities for participants.
- Conduct monthly progress/pastoral care support visits and reports for each participant
- Ensure all participants engage in job readiness, career development, financial literacy workshops, industry awareness activities and work site visits
- Support participants as they engage in accredited and non-accredited training
To succeed in this role you will:
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and leaders
- Have commitment to providing high levels of customer service to internal and external clients
- Be a self-starter with energy, drive and an ability to work with minimal direction
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to build strong relationships
- Demonstrate an ability to juggle a multitude of tasks and prioritise work schedules
- Experience working with diverse clients, including youth, unemployed, minority groups and people facing barriers to employment
- Positive approach to professional development and upskilling opportunities
