AddressINDUSTRIAL DESIGNER NEEDED: Focus started out as a small shop front in Marrickville and has grown into a more than 12.000sqms of print facilities across Australia delivering thousands of print solutions every year. Due to business growth, the company is looking for one experienced Industrial Designer to join our team.
Key responsibilities & duties
- Design, develop and improve products from concept/design scope to proof of developed concept
- Conduct design research activities based on clients’ objectives
- Translate insights and ideas into viable design strategies and concepts
- Developing detailed sketches, models, and 3D prototypes using computer-aided design (CAD) software which is Rhinoceros3D and Proengineer and other tools, to refine the design concepts and test them for ergonomy ,functionality and aesthetics.
- Work cross functionally to implement and introduce product across marketing, sales and operations
- Work collaboratively with marketing to generate product assets including renderings and animations
- Project manage activities, as well as coordinating the implementation of changes
- Collaborate with Product Management to identify and visualise product opportunities
- Present design work using a diverse toolkit (i.e. sketches, storyboards, 3D renders, CAD drawings, and physical prototypes)
- Manage technical developments for/with new and existing products/suppliers
- Prepare and provide all relevant documentation for design
Skills and Experience
- At least Bachelor in a relevant major (Engineering/Industrial Design qualifications)
- minimum 2 year's experience
- Parametric 3D/CAD proficient (Fusion, Inventor, Solidworks)
- Estimating, budgets and project management
- Liaising with overseas and local manufacturing/fabricators
- Point of sale, retail fitout, digital signage integration
- Experience with sheet metal, extrusion profiles and plastics design
- Designing and maintaining product families/parts assembly
- Manufacturing, shop drawings and installation instructions
