The Team
The Chief Technology Officer Branch delivers a range of ICT services to the agency including enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and service management. ICT services are delivered through a select sourcing model, with a mixture of in-house and outsourced resources.
The Chief Technology Officer Branch is committed to building the agency’s information technology capability by providing resilient, modern, and secure systems informed by data and insights, and to upskill teams to develop innovative new products and services.
The IT Infrastructure Section is responsible for the management and problem resolution of the agency’s ICT infrastructure, including ICT on-prem infrastructure, on-premises, remote and cloud networks, messaging systems, file storage and management, database administration, certificate management, application installation and management, Standard Operating Environment, Webhosting arrangements.
The Opportunities
This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the delivery of electoral events and day-to-day operations through an improved maturity of AEC’s systems. The role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to IT Service Management.
You will focus on managing and improving the AEC’s on-premises infrastructure, such as physical server infrastructure, Hyper-V Clusters, Windows Server operating environments. Reporting to the Assistant Director IT Infrastructure, you will assist the infrastructure team to deliver positive outcomes for the day-to-day matters relating to the management and support of AEC on-premises infrastructure and systems.
The role will include work effectively across teams to provide infrastructure expertise to enhance and improve existing solutions, including designing, developing, implementing, and testing solutions, in line with business requirements and software development standards.
You will define, develop and document the existing automation technologies to enhance the system’s, contribute to providing On-call support for AEC infrastructure and systems and stay up to date with the latest industry trends and advancements.
To excel you'll have:
- Knowledge and experience in implementing and managing services at an enterprise level - including, but not limited to the following: Active Directory Groups and Group Policies. Active Directory Sites and Services. Domain Name Service (DNS). Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
- Ability to deploy and maintain software through System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Endpoint antivirus and application whitelisting solutions.
- Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams, with technical and non-technical staff at all levels to collaborate, while mentoring team members to promote team harmony.
- Experienced on-prem to cloud migrations and Familiar with Hyper-V server management.
- Experience in PowerShell scripting for Active Directory and Azure and other Microsoft Infrastructure capabilities.
- Knowledge of risk management principles and processes in context of Infrastructure management.
Additional criteria for Infrastructure Engineers – APS Level 6
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels and influence key stakeholders.
- Ability to organise and lead a small team and/or coach others to deliver outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines.
Desirable
- Relevant qualifications in IT
- Demonstrated knowledge of IT frameworks, such as ITIL and TOGAF
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks and the Information Security Manual (ISM)
