About the role
We have a new opportunity available for a permanent full-time Infrastructure and Security Administrator within our Information & Digital Transformation department. This is a highly technical and key role within Council that will be responsible for the administration of our diverse physical and virtual IT infrastructure and to ensure a secure network of systems through regular testing and updating of our relevant processes and policies.
Some of your key accountabilities will be to:
- Administer, monitor, and manage Council’s physical and virtual IT infrastructure.
- Manage, monitor, test, and improve backup and restoration processes.
- Oversee routine patch management for a fleet of virtual servers.
- Monitor and manage on-premises and Cloud-based storage utilisation.
About you
You will be a technical expert in the field with sound knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure management in complex IT environments.
You will be a high achiever with:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Information Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in complex information technology environments.
- Proven experience administering physical and virtualised server environments including VMware and Windows Server 2016 - 2022.
- Experience managing and monitoring modern firewalls including security policies, NAT, and VPN configuration. Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls preferable.
- Demonstrated experience in server backup and recovery. Knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam for M365 preferable.
- Knowledge and experience across network security infrastructure and protocols, including the administration of switches, routers, DNS, TLS/SSL, and VPNs.
- Flexible approach to work demands and the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience delivering cyber security uplift projects.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with Hewlett Packard Enterprise SimpliVity.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 Entra and Compliance.
- Experience with Sophos Central.
- Knowledge and understanding of the ASD Essential 8.
- Experience in vulnerability management.
- Cyber Security qualifications.
