Job description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Instructional Designer. The role is part time (30 hours per week) and for a period of six months with the possibility of extension.

We offer flexible working arrangements to meet your work/life commitments and support your wellbeing. This includes the option of a hybrid or remote work arrangement with a willingness to travel into the office as required.

The Instructional Designer role is responsible for creating engaging learning content and activities for Australian pharmacists. In consultation and collaboration with subject matter experts you will be developing courses that meet the educational objectives of our target audiences.

To succeed in this role you will have highly developed computer skills and experience in instructional design, education and training and/or tertiary qualifications in e-learning technology or instructional design.

About Us

We are the national peak professional body for pharmacists, representing Australia’s 34,000 pharmacists working across all sectors of healthcare.

PSA wants every Australian to have access to the best healthcare, which includes optimising access to pharmacists’ expertise and medicines. As a membership organisation, we are passionate about equipping and empowering our pharmacists to realise their full potential, ensuring they have rewarding careers at every stage.

We strive to deliver high quality education, professional development, and practice support for both members and non-members.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a variety of high quality, engaging materials for digital delivery using contemporary e-learning and multimedia software suites and platforms based on information provided by subject matter experts.
  • Redesign content for online presentation that is conducive to e-learning activities while adhering to the education goals of the organisation and that embed end user learning requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively within the instructional design team to offer support to various relevant teams across the organisation, ensuring the timely and budget delivery of shared tasks and projects.
  • Recommend changes to existing programs, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to compliance and delivery options for the course.
  • Develop resources and provide training to support the effective use of e-learning.
  • Contribute to the development of processes and policies relating to design, development, implementation, and handover within the team.
  • Conduct usability and quality assurance testing and evaluate eLearning resources against appropriate standards and guidelines, visual style guides, copyright and intellectual property requirements.
  • Maintain quality assurance processes and protect the intellectual property in e-learning materials developed for the PSA.
  • Analyse and apply trends and best practice in learning techniques and instructional design and make recommendations about when to adopt certain systems to continue to offer the best learning experience possible.

About you:

We welcome applications from candidates who may not meet all the specified requirements but possess a strong passion and willingness to learn. We believe in the value of diverse perspectives, and your unique skills and experiences could contribute to our dynamic team.

  • Highly developed computer skills including proficiency using Microsoft Office 365.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design, education and training and/or tertiary qualifications in e-learning technology or instructional design.
  • Expertise in crafting engaging interactive multimedia instructional content using Articulate.
  • Strong visual design skills with an ability to storyboard and create effective instructional text, audio, and video scripts. We use Adobe Creative Cloud but are open to other software packages which you may have experience with.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (we use Moodle) and a deep understanding of SCORM.
  • High level interpersonal communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain networks, contacts and relate to stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Have a basic understanding of HTML & CSS as we sometimes need to make small code amends.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise work in a team environment within specified timeframes.
  • Flexible and adaptable attitude to work combined with a positive approach to problem-solving in a fast paced, high-energy environment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Salesforce in a work environment.
  • Previously worked in an agile workflow environment.

What we will provide:

  • The flexibility to work in ways that meet your work/life commitments and support your wellbeing.
  • A safe and inclusive environment where diverse backgrounds, perspectives and identities are celebrated.
  • A supportive management team who will help you reach your career goals and providing ongoing opportunities to grow and make a real difference.
  • A culture in which staff are encouraged to be ourselves and empowered to perform at our best, where successes are celebrated, and where we work together to create better experiences for our members and for each other.

PSA is committed to taking a proactive approach in managing and providing a safe and healthy working environment for all persons, so far as reasonably practicable. It is therefore a requirement that all staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend PSA Offices.

PSA reserves the right to withdraw the advertisement before the end date if the suitable applicant is found before the closing date.

PSA embraces diversity and encourages applications from people with disability. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier-free recruitment process and supportive workplace. Please contact ***********@psa.org.au for confidential support to ensure an equitable, barrier-free application process.

PSA is committed to building an inclusive culture where diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and identities are celebrated. We know we perform at our best when we are empowered to be ourselves, and that this, in turn, enables our future success as an organisation.
