The Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia, with more than 17,000 members. AASW sets the benchmarks for professional education and practice in social work and have a strong voice on matters of social justice, human rights, and issues that impact upon the quality of life of all Australians.
Reporting to the Team Leader Projects, Professional Development & Training, in this position you will have primary responsibility to deliver quality learning experiences on time and budget, as articulated in our strategy and business plan.
You will play an essential role in leading the development of a new learning experience and developing new materials to meet deliverables for funded projects, corporate customers, and other learning requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include [not limited to] the following:
- Develop clear and concise storyboards for on-demand courses including navigation/development requirements for the AASW LMS (Brightspace)
- Design workshops and learning programs, including facilitator guides, learner resources, slides and other resource materials.
- Use authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline and multimedia applications to develop content
- Map learning to the Social Work Capability Framework
- Curating content to support learning and organisational outcomes.
- Design cutting edge learning materials to support the public CPD Program, customer in-house training requests and other learning projects
- Ensure the design is delivered to the specified quality standards, with instructional design integrity
- Ensure consistency of design across all program materials
- Meet all relevant quality assurance standards, including compliance requirements
- Work with technology work streams to ensure that enabling systems and interdependencies are considered and incorporated into business requirements
- Develop and ensure adherence to design standards and templates
- Consult with internal stakeholders on identified opportunities and suggested content in sectors of social work
- Consult with external stakeholders such as subject matter experts to establish content and ensure learning objectives are met
- Manage learning development projects from start to conclusion
- Project management of nominated projects

Key selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in Education, Training, or related discipline
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
- 5+ years’ experience working in learning design and/or learning and development, with experience in designing learning assets and programs across live online, in-person and on-demand learning in the professional education sector
- A demonstrated strong focus on performance outcomes in a client focussed environment
- Demonstrated skills in applying learning design methodologies to various types of media and delivery methods including all types of digital and blended learning
- E-learning experience, including using learning management systems, rapid authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline and multimedia development applications
- An ability to understand and regularly adopt up-to-date learning design methods to enhance learner and organisational outcomes in line with emerging trends and industry best practice
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and confidently share ideas and information at various levels
- A proven ability and understanding of relevant delivery content to be communicated in order to bring it to life in an engaging way for live online, on-demand and in-person training delivery.
- Ability to maintain a positive and flexible approach whilst working with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent people skills and a collaborative attitude
- Demonstrated problem solving experience, with high level critical thinking and analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple and/or complex projects to defined project deadlines, with a minimum of supervision
- The ability to balance creativity and aesthetics with functionality and usability and meeting business requirements
