About The Role

We are looking for an Insurance Manager, with proven expertise in insurance to join the Uber APAC Insurance team and support the growing carshare business in Australia. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Uber Carshare team to design and execute programs aimed at providing affordable risk protection products for Uber Carshare customers. These offerings will significantly contribute to the growth and profitability of the business in Australia.

In this role, you will work closely with the Uber Carshare team, as well as cross-functional team members in Claims, Compliance, Legal, Actuarial, Finance, and Operations. Support will also be provided for other aspects of Risk Management in Australia as priorities allow.

Your Impact in Role

  • Work with the Uber Insurance team, insurance brokers and the Uber Carshare Executive team to help design, execute and manage Uber Carshare's risk and insurance strategy
  • Place the appropriate insurance and reinsurance policies
  • Work with Analytics team, to ensure that the business has clear, reliable data about claims costs and risks in Australia
  • Work with Product, Growth and Actuarial teams to implement appropriate risk and insurance pricing strategies
  • Carry out compliant and efficient operation of Uber Carshare's Risk and Insurance programs including:
  • Working with internal and external experts to ensure effective governance and operation of Uber Carshare's discretionary mutual
  • Working with Finance team on planning, budgeting and forecasting for Uber Carshare and the discretionary mutual
  • Supporting generation of reliable and transparent financial reporting process for the discretionary mutual
  • Working with Mutual Manager, Finance and Actuarial teams to determine appropriate levels of member contributions and deployment of surpluses for the discretionary mutual.
  • Working with Finance and external auditors to ensure efficient and timely completion of audits for the discretionary mutual.
  • Liaise with insurers as required to encourage the development of an active marketplace of appropriate and affordable insurance products for people sharing their cars
  • Support Risk Management efforts in other areas of Uber's business as priorities permit

The Experience You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, insurance, business administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in insurance risk management within the Australian insurance market. Experience within the transportation or sharing economy sectors preferred.
  • Familiarity with insurance products and coverage, including auto liability, general liability, personal accident and other relevant lines of coverage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and develop effective risk management strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of Australian insurance regulations, particularly related to discretionary mutual management and coverage requirements
  • Insurance underwriting and product development experience
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
