Executive Manager, Insurance

In this senior executive role, you will play a crucial part in formulating and implementing vital strategies aimed at assisting our members with effectively managing their group life insurance arrangements.
Your role will have a positive influence in safeguarding our members and their families and providing financial protection.
The opportunity
The Executive Manager, Insurance will lead the insurance function at Hostplus and is responsible for the management of the end-to-end group insurance arrangements.
The role will oversee the provision of products and services that meet members' expectations and requirements, while also meeting the fund's regulatory obligations. The role is responsible for the overall management of the insurance operations functions, including service delivery, policy, and processes.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
Providing strategic leadership and oversight to the insurance team to ensure effective and quality service delivery and to drive member satisfaction, retention, and engagement.
Developing and driving the business strategy and planning process, providing focus and prioritisation to the extended insurance function on service delivery expectations, projects and change.
Overseeing the formal third-party governance model to meet regulatory obligations.
Overseeing, managing, and assessing insurer's performance against their contractual obligations to ensure there is continued alignment to the strategy.
Developing new and maintaining existing relationships and partnerships with key external client stakeholders.
Managing the governing frameworks to ensure the fund's Insurance strategy is sustainable and all actuarial matters including pricing models and assumptions are maintained.
Managing of all Design Distribution Obligations (DDO) and Insurance Management Framework (IMF) and all related policies.
Overseeing the insurance products, services, processes and reporting to ensure alignment to the governing framework.
Providing competitor analysis and benchmarking.
Enhancing operational effectiveness through a continuous improvement approach to identify efficiency gains, while maintaining oversight of all Insurance policies, processes, and procedures.
Managing insurance regulatory compliance including risk management requirements.
Managing the Insurance risk management framework, the conciliation process for insurance related AFCA complaints, APRA audits, and all required reporting obligations.
Managing business and cultural transformation change programs to improve standards of service, operations, cost efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining service levels to members.
Overseeing the departmental budget and seeking in-depth understanding of cost structures while pursing efficiency gains across the business model, where possible.
About you
You will have principal ownership and accountability to lead all elements of the insurance function and therefore the following skills and knowledge will be essential in delivering outcomes including:
Effectively empowering the team to achieve the desired business outcomes;
Recognising problems and developing strategies to address requirements in a timely manner;
Being a confident, articulate and a strong communicator;
Positively creating a team environment where people strive for excellence; and
The ability to conceptualise and think creatively, driving concepts through to output.
You will have extensive senior executive experience within the insurance industry, with specialised expertise in fund administration, vendor management and/or insurance. Additionally, you will hold a strong understanding of relevant regulations and legislation, with the ability to translate requirements into actions including tracking and monitoring programs. Strong leadership experience is essential with the ability to empower teams and promote collaboration across departments to achieve exceptional results.
