We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic IT Manager to join our team in Hobart.
About the role
As our IT Manager you will be an essential member of the Murdoch Clarke team. You will work closely with the internal management team, the IT support technician, external vendors, and contractors to deliver high quality, secure and reliable IT solutions to the organisation.
Key functions
- Day to day oversight of the IT operation including monitoring of system availability, routine maintenance, user onboarding and offboarding, technical changes, and hands on incident resolution
- Provide high quality, prompt end user support by phone, email and in person
- Direct and supervise the IT support technician
- Recommend, plan and lead projects to maintain and progress IT systems
- Communicate clearly with management via written plans, recommendations, progress reports and business cases
- Manage the risk to IT systems through backup procedures, recovery plans, policies, security protocols, testing and auditing
- Work with vendors and service providers to plan, maintain and progress IT systems
- Design, plan, and execute the installation of new and replacement IT server and desktop infrastructure and systems
- Troubleshoot and remediate technical issues, including IT infrastructure and end user systems
- Maintain clear technical configuration documentation
- Produce and maintain help and guidance documentation for end users

Experience and qualifications we are looking for
Our ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role in a small to medium sized professional services environment
- A tertiary qualification in an information technology or related discipline or equivalent experience
- A current driver’s licence
To be considered for the role, you will need to demonstrate administration and support experience with the following systems:
- Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop operating systems
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS
- Microsoft Exchange
- IT infrastructure including, servers, storage, and networking
- VMWare vCenter and ESXi or similar
- VEEAM Backup and Recovery or similar
- Microsoft 365, Entra, Teams
- Cybersecurity practice
- VOIP Communications
Additionally, the following experience and skills are highly desirable:
- Experience administering a legal practice management software system (e.g. LEAP/FilePro/Practice Evolve/Lexis Affinity)
- Experience administering dictation/transcription system (Olympus/Phillips/Dragon)
- IT certifications in any of the relevant areas or systems including, Microsoft, Cisco and cybersecurity
- Experience with ACSC E8 or other cybersecurity standard
- Microsoft SQL Server administration
- Sophos firewall administration
Please note, this position includes hands on technical responsibilities involving some physical work. Occasional after hours work and travel to Launceston may also be required.
