About The Opportunity
Our team, based at our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane, is currently seeking an Operational Accountant to join their team. This is an 8-12 month contract covering a parental leave, with the possibility of extending into permanent employment. In this hands-on role, you will play an integral role in the daily finance operations of the Brisbane office.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, Australia, your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with senior management and overseeing the day-to-day financial activities of the Brisbane office.
- Preparing monthly management accounts including posting month end journals and providing commentary on budget and forecast variances.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, as well as annual budget and quarterly forecast preparation.
- Managing the accounts payable / receivable process, as well as payroll (fortnightly and monthly), including payroll tax and PAYG reconciliations.
- Supporting financial process improvements and the integration of systems with Head Office.
- Various other tasks such as fulfilling sales orders, timesheet management, validating purchase orders, bank reconciliations etc.
- Helping onboard new staff and assisting with general administrative tasks (e.g. organising couriers, stationery orders, monitoring stock supplies etc.).
About You
You will have a proven background within accounting positions with ideally some exposure to office administration management.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting and business administration
- Management accounting experience, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite, SAP, Sage).
- Well-versed with using the Microsoft Office suite of applications, especially Microsoft Excel.
