This role:
Reporting the Production Manager, this is currently a Monday – Friday opportunity for a technical production specialist to support the production team with training and coaching for best practice manufacturing principles. Working alongside the supervisor, team leaders and operators, in this hands-on role you will be responsible for ensuring frameworks for production processes are fit for purpose to achieve production KPI’s, continuous improvement, a safe workplace, and food safety & quality standards are achieved.
Most importantly, you will have a positive visible presence on the production floor working closely with the team to train, coach and mentor the operators to develop their skills and knowledge. Your excellent people and communication skills are essential to drive a happy, safe and engaged workplace.
Key deliverables include:
- Apply your leadership and coaching skills to engage all staff in their responsibilities, maintaining standards and ensuring effective teamwork.
- Analyse and drive process optimisation, enhancing efficiency and production quality through challenging the status quo, team collaboration and best practice / CI manufacturing methodologies.
- Monitor and implement processes to ensure that site standards such as Food Safety, GMP, OHS, quality, and individual standards are achieved and maintained by everyone in the team.
- Monitor and implement improvement processes to address attainment to schedule and plant uptime, loss & waste, performance measures such as effective start-ups and communication tools such as SIC boards.
- Foster a ‘safety first’ culture collaborating with the Safety Co-ordinator and Health & Safety Committee to ensure compliance and team understanding.
- Work collaboratively with the Quality & Technical Team to ensure Hygiene, Food Safety & Environmental Standards are always upheld in production.
- Own and undertake the employee skills competency requirements of the induction process, operator competency training plans and skills matrix delivery.
- Develop technical mastery of the various production processes to improve the process flow and team capability.
- Monitor and implement processes to KPI’s for Quality – Right first time, plant GMP status, Root Cause Analysis and CAPA timelines.
- Understand OEE, MTBF & MTTR to address & increase OEE & MTBF & reduce MTTR.
You will require:
- Demonstrated experience in a Process Lead Operator, CI, Technical or Operator Trainer capacity. Preferably within a Food Manufacturing FMCG Industry, although your skills and communication style together with a willingness to learn our business are essential.
- Manufacturing, Engineering, or trade related qualifications and training in OHS, front line leadership, train the trainer, quality and/or HACCP will be considered highly.
- A passion for coaching and training with the ability to communicate and engage team members in best practice production methods and standards.
- Ability to collate data for analysing production efficiency, problem solving and applying best practice manufacturing standards.
- Experience using systematic problem-solving tools understanding of ‘why’ each problem occurs.
- Knowledge applying OHS, Food Safety & Quality and Environment standards in production processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to confidently communicate and build relationships across a multi-cultural and multilingual workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and be a professional role model for others.
