The Role
As the Leading Worker - Biodiversity, you'll be at the forefront of our duty to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of our region. Your journey will take you through urban and rural biodiversity reserves, coastal and riverine areas, and roadside vegetation. Expect a dynamic role with a variety of responsibilities, ensuring the success of Council's programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with, and occasionally leading a small dynamic team with the eco-enthusiasm
- Collaborating with the team to meet Environmental Maintenance and Natural Resource Managementobjectives.
- Getting your hands dirty (literally!) with on-ground bush care, weed control, and threat abatement.
- Playing a key role in achieving biodiversity goals outlined in Council's Environmental Action Plan, Climate Action Plan and Biodiversity Asset Maintenance plans and programs
- Arrange activities of staff, contractors, and plant effectively
- Keeping our Team Leader Environmental Projects in the loop on all the green happenings
- Assist in the mentoring of other staff in biodiversity and conservation.
What we need from you:
- A passion for biodiversity that's contagious. (Certificate 3 in Conservation and Land Management highly regarded)
- Previous industry experience in Natural Area Management and Revegetation
- Developing leadership skills that inspire greatness.
- Ability to work independently and think on your feet.
- Customer-focused mindset and a knack for problem-solving.
- Be able to undertake manual outdoor work with ease and be subject to a pre-employment screen.
- Strong understanding of Work, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
